Adult Workshop with Rosie Smith
Join professional wildlife artist Rosie Smith for a special oil painting workshop inspired by Rosie’s popular “Half Hidden” collection — a series that has sold through multiple galleries. This is a unique opportunity to learn how to create these expressive, atmospheric animal portraits using alla prima (wet-into-wet) oil techniques.
In this workshop, you’ll paint your own Half Hidden Highland Cow on board using graduate oil paints, learning how to:
Work confidently in alla prima oils
Create depth and atmosphere with loose, expressive brushwork
Suggest detail without overworking
Build character and focus in an animal portrait
Use light, shadow and texture to create that “half hidden” effect
This session is suitable for all abilities, whether you're new to painting, oils or looking to loosen up your style. Rosie Smith’s Half Hidden paintings are known for their mood, texture and presence — and Rosie is excited to share the techniques behind them in this relaxed, supportive workshop setting.
